ProMexico participates in business forum with Germany on visit of Angela Merkel to Mexico

  • German Chancellor participates in the annual closure of the Dual Mexico-Germany that began in October 2016.

Mexico City. This Saturday, 10 of June, on the occasion of the official visit to Mexico of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, was held the business forum "Germany and Mexico; partners on the road to the industry 4.0 and training Dual 4.0", organized by CAMEXA, the Embassy of Germany in Mexico, ProMexico and the Mexican Business Council for foreign trade, investment and technology (COMCE).

The event was headed by Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Enrique Peña Nieto, where issues were addressed as the industry 4.0., very important for both countries to promote the development of leading technologies in the country and the research platform.

The business forum was held in the Museo Interactivo de Economía (MIDE), and was attended by the Secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Luis Videgaray Caso, of economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villareal, the Undersecretary of the SRE, Carlos de Icaza, Ambassador of Mexico in Germany, Rogelio Granguillhome and the General Director of ProMexico, Paulo Carreño King, among others.

The State visit is given on the occasion of the closing of the year Dual Mexico-Germany, which started in October 2016 with the visit of Mexican President to Berlin, and which has been relevant for both countries, since the volume of trade is more than 16,000 million dollars, with direct investment that focuses largely on the automotive industry, auto parts, chemical, pharmaceutical, logistics industry.

In addition, Mexico will be the guest country of the Hanover Industrial Fair in 2018, which is the largest exhibition of its kind, and this time will be organized by ProMexico, who will also be present in the forum of business at Mexico City.

Mexico is the 1st Latin American supplier of automotive imports in Germany, including those of light automobiles; In addition, 40% of our total exports to the European country are of this product (more than 1,700 million dollars in 2016), while Germany is the 1st supplier of imports coming from the EU automotive industry and the 3rd global after United States and Japan.

One of the main themes of the visit of the State and year Dual Mexico-Germany is negotiating with the European Union in the modernization of Mexico's free trade treaty with the European Union (FTA) to boost economic relations Mexico-Germany updating disciplines, allowing improved access for agricultural products and services, as well as a greater productive integration between the parties.

In the framework of the Dual year, were held various commercial activities and promotion of investment in coordination with secretariats and institutions including Foreign Affairs (Embassy of Mexico in Berlin) and the Consulate of Mexico in Frankfort/main and SECTUR (Tourism Board of Mexico).

Activities for the promotion of Mexican products, include the event Berlin Food Week (BFW) where ProMéxico was in charge of the participation of Mexico as a partner country for the 2016 Edition, this being the main gastronomic activity, also serving with the policy of promoting national gastronomy, driven by the Federal Government.
